The Story

Kiss Me, Kate is Cole Porter's best, and one of Broadway's best musicals. It is playing somewhere in the world all of the time.

It is structured as a play within a play, where the interior play is a musical version of Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew, and the exterior play is about the ups and downs of the theatrical company that is producing the interior play.

Kiss Me, Kate contains lots of humor and a lot of exciting music. Wunderbar, So In Love, I Hate Men, Were Thine That Special Face, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, and Too Darn Hot are but a few of this cornucopia of musical treasures.

Kiss Me, Kate requires a large cast of singers. The two leads have to be very good singers who can act, the other parts are for actors who can sing. Three or four dancers with jazz training will be needed. This musical requires 12 men and 8 women, and a small group of ensemble singers. The age range is 17-75.
