CCT's 49th Season - 2010-2011
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
"A new and shocking version of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic tale of depravity, lust, love and horror. On the fog-bound streets of Victorian-era London, Henry Jekyll's experiments with exotic "powders and tinctures" have brought forth his other self-Edward Hyde, a sensualist and villain free to commit the sins Jekyll is too civilized to comprehend. When Hyde meets a woman who stirs his interest, Jekyll fears for her life and decides to end his experiments. But Hyde has other ideas, and so the two sides battle each other in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse to determine who shall be the master and who his slave. With multiple Hydes portrayed by members of the cast." - Dramatists Play Service
"This Is Not Your Grandfather's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.... Hatcher has written a play that honors the original, but gives a more complex interpretation of the dual nature of man. A dark and disturbing story liberally peppered with humor." - The Arizona Daily Star
"...[A]psychological thriller that makes an old-hat horror story scary again..." - The Arizona Republic

The Comedy Of Errors
Before our story begins, two sets of twin baby boys were separated in a shipwreck. Years later, half of the pairs arrive in a big city searching the world for their long lost brothers. Little do they know, their twins are respected citizens in a last century neighborhood. What follows is Shakespeare's popular comedy of mixups, madness, and mirth featuring an old man in search of his sons, an unhappy wife, angry merchants, a quack doctor, an abbess, and a lady of the evening. "There is something in the wind."

Kiss Me, Kate
Kiss Me, Kate is Cole Porter's best, and one of Broadway's best musicals. It is playing somewhere in the world all of the time.
It is structured as a play within a play, where the interior play is a musical version of Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew, and the exterior play is about the ups and downs of the theatrical company that is producing the interior play.
Kiss Me, Kate contains lots of humor and a lot of exciting music. Wunderbar, So In Love, I Hate Men, Were Thine That Special Face, Brush Up Your Shakespeare, and Too Darn Hot are but a few of this cornucopia of musical treasures.
Kiss Me, Kate requires a large cast of singers. The two leads have to be very good singers who can act, the other parts are for actors who can sing. Three or four dancers with jazz training will be needed. This musical requires 12 men and 8 women, and a small group of ensemble singers. The age range is 17-75.
Audition Dates: February 1, 2 & 3 7:00 PM
Performance Dates: May 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28, 29
Charley's Aunt
Jack and Charley, Oxford under graduates, invite the women they love, Kitty and Amy to lunch in order to meet Charley’s millionaire aunt from Brazil, but at the last moment Donna Lucia D’Alvadorez has to cancel, which leaves Jack and Charley in a fix since the luncheon had to be a chaperoned affair. Fancourt Babberly, another Oxford undergrad, who is a friend of Jack and Charley, shows up to show off a costume that he will be wearing in a school production. It happens to be a black satin dress of the sort worn by elderly ladies of the day.
In a flash of brilliance Jack and Charley talk the reluctant Babbs into impersonating Charley’s rich aunt, so that the afternoon can proceed without raising the eyebrows of the girl’s overly zealous guardian. Babbs begins to warm to the idea, and plays his part to the hilt. During the course of the afternoon he gains the confidence of Kitty and Amy, and is proposed to by their garden and Jack’s father. Words cannot describe the comedy, both visual and verbal; this show has to be experienced.
